Barn Door Installation
Robinson Handy and Technology Services installs barn doors!
How do I measure for my barn door?
We suggest that a barn door be at least 3 inches wider than the opening and at least 2 inches taller than the opening of the doorway.
If a door is not available in the size you need (which is common for doorways greater than 40 inches), then we suggest that you get a double barn door that rests on the same track.
How do you keep a barn door on the track or rail?
There are two ways that you can keep a barn door on its track.
The first, is that you use stoppers that slide between the top of the door and the bottom of the track. This prevents the door from being lifted off of the track. The stoppers can be rotated in the event that the door needs to be removed from the track.
The second, is that a floor guide is installed. This guide will keep the door in the vertical position. Combined with the stoppers mentioned in the previous paragraph, the door will not come off of the track nor will it swing when bumped or moved.
